Description
The SENS4ME project delivers an innovative, easy-to-use solution to support physical rehabilitation and preventive exercise among older adults, bridging the gap between hospital care and independent living at home. By combining sensor-based monitoring with video-driven motivational content and social engagement features, the system empowers elderly users to stay active in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
The solution integrates two proven technologies: SENS motion® sensors for accurate tracking of physical activity and 4Mvideo’s E-sport app that enables users to exercise while watching familiar or personalized video environments. Together, they form a comprehensive digital health platform tailored to older citizens’ needs – enabling self-motivation, professional oversight, and social connection.
SENS4ME will be marketed via online direct sales to private users, retail channels for rehabilitation equipment, and medical distributors. Dissemination will include scientific publications and conferences for clinical audiences, while end-users will be reached via digital marketing, social media, blogs, newsletters, and participation in senior and health-related events.
Objectives
Older adults are particularly vulnerable to the adverse effects of inactivity, especially following hospitalization. SENS4ME aims to motivate regular physical activity among elderly users by integrating ICT-based guidance and monitoring with immersive, social and reminiscence-driven exercise experiences. The system supports a continuum of care model – from hospital-based rehabilitation to home-based preventive exercise – reducing readmissions and improving long-term health outcomes.
Expected Results and Impact
SENS4ME will offer a unique combination of physical activity tracking and personalized motivation to enable elderly individuals to maintain an active lifestyle beyond clinical settings. By supporting physical autonomy and reducing dependency on formal care, SENS4ME responds to key socio-economic challenges tied to an aging population. The clinical validation and market-focused design ensure high scalability and relevance across Europe.
