Transferring data from sensor

This article describes how to transfer data from the sensor to the server, making the data accessible in the web app (app.sens.dk).

Background

Data is transferred from the sensor to our server via the SENS motion app. The data becomes available in the web app once the transfer is complete. 

The SENS motion activity sensor will monitor and store all data for up to 10 days without needing to transfer data. Data is only transferred while the SENS motion app is open and within a range of 10-15 m of the sensor. 

Follow the guide below to transfer data.

How to transfer data from sensor to server

1) Open the SENS motion app on a smartphone or tablet. See here for instructions on installing the SENS motion app.

When the SENS motion app is opened, the top block should be green as shown in the left image below. If the block is yellow as shown on the right, check that Bluetooth, data roaming, and location services are enabled. Restart your smartphone if necessary.

2) The sensor(s) will automatically start transferring data as long as the SENS motion app is open and running, and the sensors are within 10-15m of your device.

3) Monitor the status of the data transfer for a specific sensor by setting a favorite sensor. Transferring one day of data takes approximately 5 minutes. The more data on a sensor, the longer the transfer will take.

Status for transferring data from favourite sensor

If you are transferring data for multiple sensors, you can monitor the status by seeing how many sensors are "pending" and "busy".

4) Once all data is transferred for your favorite sensor, the app will look like the image on the left. If you are transferring data for multiple sensors, the data transfer is complete when 0 sensors are "busy" and 0 sensors are "pending", as seen on the right image.

NOTE! The sensor will stop transferring data if the SENS motion application is closed or running in the background on the smartphone. It is important to keep the app open while transferring data.

If the SENS motion app is closed during the process, the sensor will save the data that was not transferred and resume the transfer next time the app is opened.
